Zaev and Tsipras with Joint Column on Prespa Agreement

In a joint column for Euractiv, ex-PM Zoran Zaev and former Greek PM Alexis Tsipras say that for nearly 30 years following the fall of the Berlin Wall and the violent break-up of Yugoslavia, the two countries were divided over the name dispute, which obstructed the relations between the two peoples and weakened regional stability and the European perspective of the Western Balkans.

According to them, the EU and international community should make it clear that respecting the 2018 Prespa Agreement is the only path for North Macedonia to the EU accession process, pre-accession support, and economic mobilisation.

In the column, Zaev and Tsipras also point out, inter alia, that with their statements, the new leadership of North Macedonia has violated the Agreement’s spirit.
