On Wednesday (23 April), ZNAM will start its activities regarding the local elections.
“Starting from tomorrow, in the following 60 days, the party’s leadership, all elected and named officials of ZNAM, will visit all municipalities in Macedonia and meet members, sympathisers, and citizens. The goal is to directly get familiar with problems of citizens, but also to hear their proposals, suggestions, and opinions, which will be used to create the programme for the local elections”, Spokesperson Nikola Memov said on Tuesday.
At the press-conference, he was also asked whether ZNAM would participate in the elections on its own.
“ZNAM is forming a negotiating team for collaboration with parties. In the frames of the ruling partnership, we’re already starting negotiations with our ruling partner, VMRO-DPMNE. Regarding the local elections, ZNAM’s leadership is thinking about participating independently at a level of lists of candidates for council seats. With regards to mayoral races, we’re thinking about mutual support with VMRO-DPMNE. However, ZNAM’s candidates will certainly be independent ones of ZNAM, supported by VMRO-DPMNE and its coalition”, the ZNAM Spokesperson explained.
Asked whether there would be collaboration, support, and coalitions with other parties, too, Memov said that for the time being, there were talks only with VMRO-DPMNE.
“However, the party’s organs and bodies will make the final decisions on such potential support in the local elections”, Memov underlined.
Asked whether Health Minister Arben Taravari, head of one of the Alliance for Albanians wings, should be outside the ruling cabinet, Memov said his party’s stand was that it was an internal matter of VLEN.
“When it comes to the issue of Taravari’s wing staying, that depends on the stand of PM Hristijan Mickoski”, Memov pointed out.
