Number of Skin cancer Patients Rising; New Treatment Strategy Announced

The number of patients with skin cancer in Macedonia and the world is on the rise. This year total 480 patents with the most lethal type of cancer – the malign melanoma, were diagnosed in Macedonia. Doctors demand improvement in diagnostics and timely information by citizens. Health Minister Venko Filipce announced preparation of strategy for prevention of malign melanoma, new therapy and expanding the positive list of medications for oncologic diseases. “We shall procure bigger quantities and bring newer medications which have not been present on our market but are efficiently used abroad,” says Filipce. Oncology Clinic Director Nino Vasev pointed out that half of the patients with skin cancer are detected when the disease is in advanced stage.
