Hahn: President Ivanov should Act Responsibly Regarding Name Issue

According to the EU’s Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, it’s improper for a president to refuse to talk with a PM, an FM in order to get first-hand information. “I think the PM and the FM were fully respecting the constitutional instructions and I can only call on the President urgently to assume responsibility. This is not a matter of acceptance, but in a democracy, we can expect people to be hearing each other and discuss and it shouldn’t be forgotten that a head of state is in some way a model for many people in a country. As directly elected, the President has a special position and responsibility and he should be aware of that,” he says in an interview with MIA.
