Parliament adopts Changes to Law on MPs, Gruevski left without Salary

The Parliament adopted Wednesday the changes to the Law on MPs, which result in stripping former PM Nikola Gruievski of his salary as an MP. The changes read that if a Member of Parliament is sentenced to a prison sentence exceeding six months, he/she loses the right to a salary and other fees. Gruevski was recently sentenced to two years in prison in Special Prosecutor’s Office case “Tank”. As he was scheduled to report to prison, Gruevski escaped to Hungary where he received political asylum.
