Macedonian-EU Mixed Committee Endorses start of Membership Negotiations

A document recommending start of EU membership negotiations with Macedonia was adopted at the 16th meeting of the Mixed Parliamentary Committee of Macedonia and the EU. In the document, the Committee concludes that a significant progress was made in areas like rule of law, security and counter-intelligence services, public administration reforms and struggle against organised crime and corruption. The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrej Zernovski addressed the meeting, pointing out the strong support of this parliamentary body for Macedonia’s integration EU. “We are proud on what we have achieved so far and the perspectives we are opening of the Republic of North Macedonia. We are aware that there is still a lot to be done on our behalf, but the success we have achieved so far gives us hope and motivation to proceed in completing our goals,” Zernovski said, expressing hope that membership negotiations will start in June.
