Osmani: Decision for Negotiations in June, Opening of Chapters in January

The Vice-PM for European Affairs Bujar Osmani says that the latest statements of EU Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn provides greater motivation for implementation of reforms and completion of all processes necessary for Macedonia to start membership negotiations with the EU. “Commissioner Hahn is one of the greatest supporters of North Macedonia and its integration in the EU. What he said on Tuesday in Belgrade is something we are constantly telling the public; we expect for the European Commission (EC) to reach a decision for start of the negotiations with North Macedonia in June, i.e. confirmation of a date which will give a mandate to the EC to prepare the negotiation framework, so that by the end of this year we start the negotiations, and by January 2020 we start opening chapters,” Osmani said.
