OSCE/ODIHR Report on Pre-electoral Campaign published

The Mission of OSCE/ODIHR to Macedonia which monitors the pre-electoral campaign for the presidential election presented on Sunday the report for the period between 11 March and 2 April on conditions and events related to the upcoming presidential election. “Before the candidates were officially registered on 21 March they engaged in campaign activities, such as holding small-scale meetings with citizens around the country and giving media interviews. In general, women are underrepresented in public life. Women’s rights and gender equality have not yet emerged as prominent campaign issues. For example, Ms. Siljanovska-Davkova has experienced negative stereotypes on social media on the basis of her gender, like comments about her appearance,” said OSCE’s head of Mission Corien Jonker.
