Vice-PM Osmani in Official Visit of Portugal

The Vice-PM for European Affairs Bujar Osmani paid an official visit of Portugal, where he met several Portuguese state officials. Osmani first held a meeting with the President of the Committee on European Affairs in the Portuguese Parliament Regina Bastos, with whom he discussed the political support Portugal provides to Macedonia in its integration in NATO and EU. Osmani introduced Bastos to the reforms implemented by the Macedonian government, as well as the development of the ongoing campaign for the presidential election. Both Osmani and Bastos accented the importance of the cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries, in which they can exchange experiences related to the integration in EU and NATO. During his stay in Portugal, Osmani also met the Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs Augusto Ernesto dos Santos Silva. Osmani informed Silva on the current political events and processes in Macedonia. “I highly appreciate the support Portugal has provided so far to North Macedonia in its aspirations for integration in NATO and EU, as well as your pledges for enlargement of the EU in general. Integration of West Balkans in the EU would bring greater stability and prosperity of the region and EU itself,” Osmani told Silva, adding that the Macedonian government is working on the implementation of the necessary reforms, despite the ongoing campaign for the presidential election.
