SCPC: 18 Cases of Possibility for Nepotism involving Current State Officials

The State Commission for Prevention of Corruption (SCPC) presented in a press conference on Wednesday a list of 18 cases of nepotism involving state officials from the current government, who have used their political influence for the employment of their relatives in state institutions. The list includes 3 cases against MP Mira Stojcevska, 3 against SDSM Sec Gen and MP Aleksandar Kiracovski and one against Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi. “It is still uncertain how the sister of the Economy Minister got employed in MEPSO, since there are no existing registers of the ranking of the other 72 candidates for the position she now occupies. SCPC still decided to file infringement proceedings against Kreshnik Bekteshi because he and his sister are sharing an address of living, and he did not report that a member of his family is employed in a state institution,” said SCPC member Vladimir Gjorgiev. SCPC has also filed infringement proceedings against the President of Macedonia Gjorge Ivanov, who has approved promotions in the Army of Macedonia (ARM) after the date of declaration of the 2019 presidential election (8 February 2019). SCPC states that Ivanov promoted Vasko Gjurcinovski to the position general-colonel, as well as Orce Jordev, Dragan Kovacki and Besnik Emini to positions of generals, thus violating the Electoral Law.
