Stevo Pendarovski wins 2019 Presidential Election

With 100 % of processed ballots in the 2nd round of the 2019 presidential election, the State Electoral Commission (SEC) came out with the preliminary results of the election. The turnout of the citizens in the 2nd round of the election was 44.55 %, overpassing the required threshold of 40 % necessary for making a presidential election legitimate. Around 843,760 citizens cast their votes in this election, while the total number of voters registered in SEC’s List of Voters was 1,808,131. The candidate of the ruling alliance led by SDSM and DUI won the election with 51.66 % of the votes (436,212 votes) while the candidate of the opposition led by VMRO-DPMNE Gordana Siljanovska Davkova won 44.73 % of the votes (377,713 votes), while 3.61 % of the ballots (30,442) were declared void. “We congratulate Stevo Pendarovski on winning this election and becoming the new President of North Macedonia,” said SEC president Oliver Derkovski. From SEC they inform that the election was conducted in peaceful and democratic atmosphere without major significant problems.
