“Today, we’re ready both politically and institutionally. We firmly believe we deserve a merit-based decision and believe that the EU, too, will deliver,” PM Zoran Zaev said on Monday, within the frameworks of the Vienna Economic Forum. The PM expects the country to get a date to start membership negotiations because it has shown how long-lasting problems can be resolved through dialogue and cooperation. The EU’s Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, stated that Macedonia’s political stability was the best in the region. Hahn expects the country to get a date and the period before the end of this year to see the first chapters opened.
