Two Hellenic Air Force planes patrolled the Macedonian sky within the frameworks of NATO Air Policing. The F-16s conducted two test overflights at 7:30 am and 9:30 am, with the goal being a check of communications and radar coverage of Macedonia’s aviation space and preparation for fulfilment of the conditions the country has to fulfil for NATO integration. There will be no other test overflights until the signing of the technical agreement with NATO. The costs of the flight are covered by the country sending the planes. The Air Policing programme isn’t new in the region. It is already implemented in Albania and Montenegro.
