The newly appointed US Ambassador to Macedonia Kate Marie Byrnes has officially assumed the office in Skopje on Tuesday, taking over the position from acting Ambassador Micaela Schweitzer Bluhm. Byrnes has a diplomatic career spanning 26 years, her latest engagement being on the position of Deputy Ambassador of the US to Greece. Byrnes replaces Jess Baily in the Embassy in Skopje, who officially left this position in February 2019.
