The PM Zoran Zaev held a press conference in the government, during which he called on all leaders of political parties in the Macedonian Parliament to have a leaders’ meeting on Friday. Zaev called on party leaders to discuss implementation of reforms, one of which the new Law on Public Prosecution, so that the country can proceed with the processes for integration in the EU. “I call upon the leader of VMRO-DPMNE Hristijan Mickoski, the leader of DUI Ali Ahmeti and the Leader of Alliance for Albanians Ziadin Sela to meet me on Friday at the Club of MPs, so that we can reach agreement on issues important for the progress of North Macedonia towards integration in the EU. I am aware of some of the parties’ demands for snap parliamentary election, but in times like these I think the state should be a priority for all of us. We are ready for early election if necessary. The regular term for parliamentary election is around December 2020, but if agreement is reached, we can do it earlier, say in October 2020,” Zaev said. From VMRO-DPMNE they say that they will consider this invitation of Zaev. “We shall make a decision about this meeting in accordance with the agenda of our leader Hristijan Mickoski for the upcoming period. However, we shall keep on insisting that he one and only topic of discussion at that party leaders’ meeting should be organisation of snap parliamentary election as soon as possible,” said VMRO-DPMNE spokesperson Dimce Arsovski. AA leader Sela accepted Zaev’s invitation for meeting, saying that meetings like this are important for the state.
