Zaev: Population Census will not be delayed for 2021

The PM Zoran Zaev said during a press conference at the Macedonian government that the population census the government plans to conduct will take place in April 2020, and there cannot be delays whatsoever. “The testing census we conducted a while ago in several municipalities turned out successful, and the State Statistical Office informed me that the opposition has no negative comments on the law and the method whatsoever. The census will be conducted in accordance with the standards and methodologies of EUROSTAT. Citizens living abroad for more than a year will be registered in the section for diaspora, not into the one for households on the territory of the country. The census will be conducted between 1 and 30 April 2020. Had the census in 2011 been successful, then it would’ve been possible for us to postpone this one for 2021. With the current conditions, the population census will take place in April 2020 and there will be no delays,” Zaev said.
