OMRBMD: New Rule for Citizenship effective from Wednesday

The State Office for Management of Registers of Births, Marriages and Deaths (OMRBMD) announced that starting on Wednesday the citizenship of the citizens of Macedonia in their birth certificates will be “Macedonian/Citizen of Republic of North Macedonia”. The announcement follows the several cases in the past few days in which citizens were issued birth certificates in which the graph for citizenship was either left empty or with several strokes, which caused negative reactions among the citizens. According to the Amendment XXXIII to the Constitution of Macedonia, in relation to the Prespa Agreement with Greece, the citizenship of the citizens of Macedonia in their birth certificates should be listed as “Macedonian/Citizen of Republic of North Macedonia”.
