Ministers Sekerinska and Dimitrov meet Palmer at Bled Strategic Forum

North Macedonia’s NATO membership will open the way to EU membership, stated Slovenian Defence Minister, Karl Erjavec at the meeting with Defence Minister, Radmila Sekerinska at the Bled Strategic Forum. As the Defence Ministry informs, the honest friendship between the two counties, successful cooperation and active support which Slovenia provides in all stages of NATO and EU integration, was confirmed. “I hope that at the NATO Summit in December, North Macedonia will be a full-fledged member, and that will pen the road to EU membership. That’s how it was for Slovenia. I am convinced that EU will open many possibilities for development for the country,” said Erjavec. Both ministers agreed on enhanced cooperation in the field of defence and expert assistance in the reforms in the defence sector, according to NATO standards. Minister Sekerinska spoke at the Forum on the topic of the future of the Alliance 70 years after signing the Washington agreement. During the Bled Strategic Forum, Sekerinska also said that she believes that Macedonia has gotten quickly on her feet and that the quick progress needs to be rewarded by the EU with quick decisions. EU Representative Pedro Serrano responded that from EU’s perspective, there is no secure and stable Europe until this process is over, and that the process of the Western Balkans integration is underway.
