Bundestag officially Greenlights start of Negotiations for Macedonia

After a debate that lasted around one hour, German MPs opened on Thursday Macedonia’s path a start of negotiations with the EU. In the discussions preceding the vote, Macedonia’s pledges for Euro-integrations had been highlighted. “North Macedonia had difficult political challenges. Over the past two years, it has made serious progress and implemented important reforms. We think Europe’s perspectives now are in its enlargement,” CDU/CSU’s Florian Hahn’s said. According to the German MPs, the stabilisation of the Western Balkans is of exceptional significance to the EU, which is why the enlargement issue is important. However, they once again said Albania should work even more strongly on reforms in the judiciary and on dealing with the crime.
