Racketeering case: Janeva to remain in Detention despite Investigation’s end

Former Special Prosecutor Katica Janeva will remain in detention even though the investigation into the Racketeering case, in which she’s among the suspects, is over, the Court of Appeals has decided. As the institution explained on Tuesday, though the second item of the detention decision, influence on the investigation, should be annulled because of the end of the investigation, judges have assessed that an escape risk still exists, which is why the appeal filed by Janeva’s lawyers has been rejected. The defence said they had requested for a milder measure because, in its view, the grounds on which she’d been issued a detention measure no longer existed.
