Simovski: Census not to be held in April

There will be no possibility to hold the census planned for April 2020 because it overlaps with a pre-election campaign, according to Apostol Simovski, Director of the State Statistical Office. As he said on Monday, the statistical operation is vast and there will be no possibility of holding it before April, when the elections will take place. Simovski added that he couldn’t answer when and how a census could take place because it was Parliament that should make a decision. The census law still hasn’t been adopted. The opposition has 23 demands about the manner of the census, but Simovski described most of them as unacceptable. The most unacceptable one was for the process to be carried out by a census commission, not the Office.
