Dendias: New methodology Shouldn’t Delay EU integration of North Macedonia

In an interview for the Greek newspaper “To Vima” the Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias believes that an eventual debate over a new methodology for enlargement of the EU should not delay the decisions for start of membership negotiations with Macedonia and Albania. “We support the position of France for reviewing and changing of the methodology for enlargement of the EU, but we believe that this debate should not pose an obstacle for opening of membership talks with North Macedonia and Albania. Greece wants to see both countries integrated in the EU, which is why we believe the processes should not be decoupled. I recently visited Skopje and I can say that there is a major progress in the bilateral relations between our two countries, which is a good signal for the integration of our northern neighbours in the EU,” Dendias told “To Vima”.
