The newly appointed Spokesperson of the European Commission (EC) for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Ana Pisonero said on Monday that the goal of the new assembly of EC is to bring the West Balkans closer to the EU. “There is an ongoing debate in several EU member-states concerning the possible changes to the enlargement methodology, and EC will make its comments on it once it is asked to do so. We remain open to discuss issues concerning the enlargement of the EU, and at the moment among our priorities is starting of membership negotiations with North Macedonia and Albania as soon as possible. EC and its President Ursula von der Leyen are quite determined that these two countries belong in the EU,” Pisonero said.
