Zaev: “Small Schengen” not Alternative for EU Integration

PM Zoran Zaev said on Tuesday that the purpose of the “Small Schengen” initiative is to increase the regional cooperation between the West Balkans, and not to serve as an alternative for their EU integration. “What we are trying to create is a union of better cooperation, which the EU recognised and will not support with a fund of 1.2 billion euros. It is my duty as a PM to provide the citizens with better life conditions, and for that I need not to consult with anybody. The waiting to become part of the EU is too much for all of us, and till that actually happens, we need to work on different ways to improve the life of citizens. If any political entity, an individual or a party, believes that North Macedonia shouldn’t be part of this, they should come out with arguments,” Zaev said.
