PM Zaev: Draft Law on Foreign Affairs Aims to Reform Diplomatic Service

On Thursday, on his official Facebook page, PM Zoran Zaev stated that a new draft law concerning ambassadors had been proposed, adding that it would protect the country’s diplomatic service in the future, giving the advantage to career diplomats. As the PM also wrote, the Draft Law on Foreign Affairs, adopted by the Government at the session on Saturday, aims to reform the service in order to fully professionalise it and to get it closer towards the European courses for modern diplomatic services. On the other hand, the Macedonian Diplomatic Trade Union has major remarks about the document. It is of the opinion that it will hugely damage the diplomacy of Macedonia and that the text has been drafted to help a smaller group of diplomats that are part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
