Zaev and Mickoski Continue to Present Different Stands on PPO Draft Law

On Thursday, VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski said he would neither negotiate on nor accept the Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPO) Draft Law. As he added, its only goal is to pardon crime through full control of the PPO. According to VMRO-DPMNE, it’s unacceptable for prosecutors from the former Special Prosecutor’s Office to become part of the Prosecutor’s Office for Organised Crime and Corruption, which is headed by VIlma Ruskovska, because there is direct collision with the Criminal Procedure Law. Mickoski has remarks also when it comes to the election and dismissal of the Public Prosecutor, which will depend on the Council of Prosecutors. The VMRO-DPMNE leader considers that the Prosecutor should be elected upon a nomination by the opposition. According to SDSM leader Zoran Zaev, VMRO-DPMNE’s proposals are unserious and being dictated from Budapest (where the former leader of the party, ex-PM Nikola Gruevski is).
