Parliamentary Debate on Air Pollution Marked by Fierce Accusations

Tuesday’s debate in Parliament about the air pollution information, filed by VMRO-DPMNE, was marked by fierce accusations between ruling coalition and opposition MPs. Dragan Danev, who is part of VMRO-DPMNE, said SDSM had done nothing in the fight against pollution despite their previously announced measures, such as gasification and electric buses. In response, Deputy Environment Minister Jani Makraduli stated that the Government, for the first time in the past years, had a plan to deal with the problem. That plan, he added, Includes measures that are implemented for the first time in Macedonia, as well as conclusions adopted by all parties represented in Parliament. According to Makraduli, though the pollution is present, its level has drastically fallen. The same day, the recommendations and measures of the Environment Ministry in cooperation with the Health Ministry entered into force due to the latest data about the pollution level in Skopje and Tetovo.
