PPO law to Enter Parliamentary Procedure Tuesday

The Justice Ministry’s text of the new Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPO) law will on Tuesday enter a procedure in Parliament. On Monday, MPs from the ruling coalition urged VMRO-DPMNE members to participate in the debate and support a document that will “enable an independent Prosecutor’s Office”. Judge Dobrila Kacarska being mentioned at the hearing over the Extortion case, however, according to Hristijan Mickoski’s party, is another reason why a new law is needed. The opposition party accused SDSM of wanting to forcibly adopt the document. In its view, experts and people from that line of work should be part of the public debate on Tuesday. On his Facebook page, Mickoski, wrote that the “Prosecutor’s Office is once again assuming the role of protecting the Government’s crime”, adding that SDSM leader Zoran Zaev “is fighting for a law that will amnesty the crime”.
