Italian PM Conte Believes Skopje and Tirana Should Join EU as Soon as Possible

At Thursday’s meeting in Sofia with Bulgarian counterpart Boyko Borissov, Italian PM Giuseppe Conte said Skopje and Tirana should join the EU as soon as possible. Also, he welcomed Bulgaria’s role and support regarding enlargement and the issue of opening negotiations with Macedonia and Albania. Borissov said his country and its western neighbour would this year co-chair the Berlin Process. “That is an exceptionally important sign,” the Bulgarian PM added, stressing that the marks received by Bulgaria about its role in the region were very clear and positive. In Skopje, SDSM leader Zoran Zaev said the same day he would be careful in terms of talking about a potential date.
