Government Adopts Changes to Curfew Duration

The Government of Macedonia adopted changes to the curfew regulations at the session held on Wednesday. Starting on Thursday, the curfew on working days will last from 07:00 p.m. to 05:00 a.m. the next day, while on weekends the curfew will start on Saturday at 03:00 p.m. and will end on Monday at 05:00 a.m. The information about the curfew was announced by Caretaker PM Oliver Spasovski at an online press conference held on Wednesday afternoon. “Numbers are showing the number of infected elderly persons is small, and there are more recoveries than new infections over the past three days. Based on the analyses and recommendations by the Commission for Infectious Diseases, the Government decided today to enhance the precautionary measures and reduce the movement restrictions. We should all observe the personal protective measures when going out – a mask or a scarf over the nose and the mouth, a two-meter distance and no grouping – because this is the only way to protect our own and the public health,” Spasovski said. At this session, the government also adopted a regulation which obliges all citizens to wear personal protection equipment in public, like face masks or scarves, in order to reduce the risk of spreading of COVID-19. Another regulation adopted by the government obliges retail business owners to regulate the circulation of people in their objects, depending on the object’s surface, i.e. to let inside one person for each 20 m2 of the object’s surface.
