Summit: Spasovski Adamant Fundamental Reform Commitment Will Continue

“Over the past three years, North Macedonia has decided to seriously turn new leaves in its history,” caretaker PM Oliver Spasovski said during the EU-Western Balkans Summit in Zagreb on Wednesday. Spasovski said he was adamant that the country would remain committed to fundamental reforms. The caretaker PM took part in the work of the meeting, which was held via video conference due to the COVID-19 crisis, together with Deputy PM for European Affairs Bujar Osmani and Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov. In his address, the caretaker PM added that Macedonia was ready for the next steps. The document arising from the Summit underlines the importance of good-neighbourly relations. The Macedonian Government said that in the text, the unambiguous support for the Western Balkans’ European perspective was once again confirmed. It is highlighted in the Declaration that the EU and the Western Balkan countries are fighting the coronavirus pandemic together. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen described the Western Balkans as an absolute priority of the European Union and her Commission.
