Pendarovski: Consultations with Parties before Handover of Mandate

President of Macedonia Stevo Pendarovski said in an interview for TV21 that he first needs to hold consultations with the political parties that have won mandates at the 2020 parliamentary election before handing over the mandate for formation of new government. “In accordance with the Constitution of North Macedonia, the Parliament must be assembled no later than 20 days after the parliamentary election took place. Then after that, the President of the country has 10 days to hand over the mandate for formation of a new government to the political party or alliance that will secure a parliamentary majority. Once this is done, the mandate holder has a new deadline of 20 days to establish the new government,” Pendarovski said.
