Epidemic Centre Opened in Skopje

The Health Ministry and the Public Healthcare Institute officially opened on Thursday the new Epidemic Centre in Skopje. The centre will handle the COVID-19 situation, as well as other health states of emergency. It will provide information and advice, and will follow situations in case of epidemics or pandemics, and will also include a system for early warning and detecting of healthcare problems. It will also be coordinated with the 21 Public healthcare Centres around the country. Regional Director for Europe of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Hans Kluge attended the opening of the Epidemic Centre. “I congratulate North Macedonia on establishing this Centre, and strengthening the capacities of the public healthcare services for dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic,” Kluge said. WHO Representative for Macedonia Jihane Tavillah said that the establishment of the Centre and the cooperation between Macedonia and WHO can serves as good example for the other countries in the Balkans. Health Minister Venko Filipce thanked WHO for the assistance provided for the opening of the Centre.
