Filipce, Byrnes Visit Public Healthcare Institute Laboratory in Skopje

Health Minister Venko Filipce and US Ambassador to Macedonia Kate Marie Byrnes paid a visit on Friday to the Public Healthcare Institute in Skopje, to handover a donation of COVID-19 tests and other equipment in total value of 12,000 dollars. Filipce thanked Byrnes for the assistance US provides to the healthcare sector in the country, saying that the US is becoming Macedonia’s greatest international partner in the field of healthcare. “The laboratory of the Public Healthcare Institute, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit our country, it was able to run only around 20 COVID-19 tests in one day, but thanks to the assistance of our partners, its capacities have now increased to 1,200 tests per day,” Filipce said. “I must say that I am impressed by what I saw today and I am glad that the US contributed in the upgrade of these institutions. We worked together, step by step,” Byrnes said.
