SCPC: No Criminal Charges against Angelovska about Eurostandard Bank Case

President of the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption (SCPC) Biljana Ivanovska informed at a press conference that SCPC will not file criminal charges against Finance Minister Nina Angelovska in relation to the case with the liquidation of Eurostandard Bank. “We opened a case about Angelovska’s withdrawal of her deposits from Eurostandard Bank before the National Bank shut it down and started a liquidation procedure about it. Despite the absence of elements of criminal prosecution, there is still the ethical dilemma, i.e. the fact that Angelovska from the position of Fin Min was able to acquire information about the status of the bank where she kept her deposits, which puts her in a favourable position unequal to that of the other clients of the bank. We must point out the necessity of changes to the regulations concerning officials of the state, especially the Memorandum for Cooperation between the National Bank and the Finance Ministry,” Ivanovska said.
