Deal to Form Parliament’s Working Bodies still not Reached

The ruling majority still hasn’t reached a deal to form Parliament’s working bodies, without which laws basically cannot be adopted. Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi’s Cabinet said on Friday it still hadn’t received nominations for the composition of the bodies. Therefore, a session still hasn’t been scheduled. Once nominations arrive, Xhaferi will be able to convene one. The opposition from the ethnic Macedonian bloc is worried because, as its representatives point out, Parliament hasn’t been functional even though it’s been a month since the constitutive session. Opposition members from the Albanian community, too, are concerned as well. According to Alliance for Albanians Sec Gen Arben Taravari, the reason for the problem is the disagreements within the ruling parliamentary majority. SDSM, on the other hand, claims that the opposition is to blame for the blocked Parliament.
