School Year Starts

The school year has started. However, the distance learning platform has continued to face problems in some schools. It’s also uncertain whether the online education process will start on Monday. “In a majority of schools in the country, online education has started. In some schools, they’re further equipping themselves with internet. That’s the infrastructure I was talking about, that the mayors who were working committedly with us have secured technical equipment, but I’m sure that the others, too, will further equip themselves,” Education Minister Mila Carovska said on Thursday. When it comes to the 40,000 primary school students who don’t have equipment to be part of the online education process, PM Zoran Zaev pointed out that the state “is here for all”, adding that efforts were underway to make all children equal. “I want you to know that a procedure to procure 40,000 computers with all details inside, in accordance with the experience, lasts until approximately April,” he stressed. The opposition reiterated its stand that the testing period was unsuccessful and that the platform is fully non-functional. Some schools in the country boycotted the online education process. That was the case with a primary school in Makedonska Kamenica and secondary school in Debar.
