A criminal group of 12 people has been suppressed for smuggling migrants. The police conducted an operation in Kumanovo and Skopje. 10 people have been arrested, one is already in custody and one is still on the run. In the past ten months, they have organized the smuggling of hundreds of migrants from Greece through Macedonia to Serbia, and from there to EU countries. The organizers of the criminal group transported the migrants from Greece to the territory of the country through illegal crossings in the vicinity of Gevgelija and Dojran, from where they were transported by vehicles to the Kumanovo-Lipkovo region. The Public Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation into all 12 smugglers and will request the court to place the suspects in custody.
