Reactions to Bulgaria’s Blockade for Macedonia at COREPER Meeting

Deputy PM for European Affairs Nikola Dimitrov said during an interview for Kanal 5 TV that the Bulgarian blockade for Macedonia at the COREPER meeting of the EU Ambassadors only burdens the bilateral relations between Skopje and Sofia. “The reserves of official Sofia towards the Macedonian language literally poison the bilateral relations between our countries. Sofia may keep this reserve as its official position, but this is not a matter of politics, it’s a matter of science. Our language is Macedonian, and a such is registered and recognised by the UN and the EU, and is as such registered in the draft-declaration of the European Commission. Still, I believe that we can find solutions for these issues,” Dimitrov said. VMRO-DPMNE Leader Hristijan Mickoski, on the other hand, said that the latest events and the blockade for Macedonia are just another proof of the bad and catastrophic rule of SDSM and Zoran Zaev. “Now, after this major failure of epic proportions, the only thing left for Zaev and SDSM is to resign from all official positions of the state, and once the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic settles, we must immediately have early parliamentary election,” Mickoski said.
