In an interview with Kanal 5 TV, President Stevo Pendarovski says that he doesn’t want Skopje to once again be a “record-holder” when it comes to the EU waiting room because it waited long enough to enter NATO. According to him, there were no announcements in 2017, 2018, and 2019 that Bulgaria would go outside the Skopje-Sofia deal. As Pendarovski adds, Macedonia will continue to implement it. He is adamant that the implementation is the only way to join the EU. Regarding the stands of the Czech Republic and Slovakia on the enlargement-related conclusions, Pendarovski points out that he talked to their respective Ambassadors by phone and expressed huge gratitude. However, the President notes, that is for their, not Skopje’s, defence. With regards to Russia and why there’s been no reaction from that country, the President says that is so because it is not an EU member. However, he adds that Moscow has always clearly points out that the language is Macedonian.
