Zaev: First Shipment of Pfizer’s COVID-19 Vaccines to Arrive this February

PM Zoran Zaev announced on Tuesday that the first shipment of 5,850 COVID-19 vaccines from Pfizer will arrive in Macedonia in February 2021. “This will be the first shipment of the direct procurement we agreed with Pfizer. There will also be other shipments, from EU member-states from which we requested delivery of part of their procurements realised via the mechanism of EU. We hope we will see the solidarity of the EU in action in the Western Balkans. We intend to first conduct vaccination among the healthcare workers that work with patients with COVID-19, which exposes them directly to the virus,” Zaev said. In meantime, the Government of Macedonia adopted a decision at a session held on Tuesday afternoon to oblige the Health Ministry to conduct constant procurements of vaccines in the period between 2021 and 2023, in accordance with the necessities of the citizens.
