The consequences of the blockade for the start of the country’s negotiations with the EU, their impact on the population’s enthusiasm for European integration, as well as the delay in the start of the vaccination process, were the topics discussed by Macedonian Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani after his abroad visits. Osmani assessed that there is “disappointment by Macedonia and its citizens” after the blockade of Bulgaria in December for the negotiating framework, which was supposed to mark the formal start of the EU membership negotiations. According to Osmani, Macedonia does not deviate from the position that the country must not be separated from Albania in the negotiation process, given that the EU itself has concluded that both countries are ready to start negotiations.
