Foreign Affairs Minister Bujar Osmani wrote on Facebook that Bulgarians living in Macedonia should contact the State Statistical office (SSO) in case they are unable to register themselves as Bulgarian in the Population census this spring. “Representatives of Bulgarian associations should notify SSO in case of problems of this type, so that they take action on time,” Osmani wrote. SSO Director Apostol Simovski reacted to Osmani’s comments, saying there are no any obstructions for citizens of Bulgarian ethnicity to be registered as such at the Population census this spring. “Ever since 1948, in all Population censuses implemented, there was an option for Bulgarian ethnicity, and this will remain in future,” Simovski said.
