Reeker: Macedonia Has Its Own Voice in the Most Powerful Alliance

To become part of this Alliance, Macedonia signalled its commitment to contributing to global security and demonstrated the effectiveness of NATO’s open-door policy. Now that Macedonia has a place on the table as a member of the world’s most powerful military alliance, we expect you to use it to contribute to this alliance. This was stated Saturday via video message by US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Philip Reeker, congratulating the first anniversary of Macedonia’s NATO membership. “A year ago, on 27 March, despite the deadly pandemic that devastated countries around the world, I stood with the Acting Ambassador of Macedonia, Vilma Petkovska, here at the State Department in Washington, when the country deposited the instrument of NATO accession, and then we greeted you as the 30th NATO ally,” Reeker said.
