Spasovski: Investigation into Passport Forgery Likely to Be Expanded

Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski says the investigation is likely to expand after Tuesday’s arrest of police officers involved in forging passports in order to see, as he puts it, all other aspects related to the case. One of those arrested, according to Spasovski, had contact with the leader of the opposition VMRO-DPMNE, Hristijan Mickoski. Spasovski adds that there are indications that the opposition’s information and documents are from these sources, he said during a guest appearance at “Morning briefing” show. Asked if it is normal for such an operation to last for two years, Spasovski stated that in 2019, for the first time after the observations they submitted a request to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecution of Organized Crime, to which they received reply that it was not within their jurisdiction. Then the case was taken to the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office Skopje and all actions were taken to provide the necessary evidence.
