Geer: Passport Affair Does Not Endanger Country’s Visa-Free Regime

The EU Ambassador to Skopje, David Geer, says that the fake passports affair does not endanger the visa-free regime, but that the case should be processed to conclusion. “It is true that the security of documents is an important benchmark in monitoring the implementation of the visa-free regime. But I think it is too early to talk about whether or not there will be an impact on the visa-free regime. If you have allegations of document security, it is important how the state handles it, how the judicial system manages it, and if there is wrongdoing to deal with. If there are holes, they should be closed. I believe that is the solution” Geer said in an interview with RFE. The EU Ambassador noted that it is important for the system itself to conduct a thorough investigation.
