After Meetings with Radev and Petkov, Beaune Agrees Not to Set Date

Assured that North Macedonia and Bulgaria would soon find a solution to the dispute, but without setting deadlines, French Secretary of State for European Affairs Clément Beaune concluded his visit to Sofia, before Paris took over the presidency of the EU in ten days. At the moment, no specific date can be set for North Macedonia, said the French diplomat after the meetings with the duo Radev-Petkov, who, as reported by the Bulgarian National Television, however, stressed that at the moment there should be no rush with the accession process. “We have already said that and it goes beyond the process of accession of North Macedonia. It is important to reform the European Union itself before finalizing the accession of the new countries,” said Beaune. At the meeting, Bulgarian President Rumen Radev reiterated the old positions – the Bulgarian “yes” to depend only on the achievements of North Macedonia, and not by imposing deadlines.
