Petkov: Great Progress Realised by Committee on Historical Affairs

Bulgarian PM Kiril Petkov reiterated on Thursday that the Macedonian-Bulgarian Committee on historical Affairs has reached agreement over certain issues and historical figures. “As far as I am informed, they have reached agreement and realised quite great progress in the negotiations. I am very glad that both sides express cooperation spirits. Once they have reached any agreement, they will notify promptly the governments in Sofia and Skopje,” Petkov said in Blagoevgrad. Previously he held a meeting with EU Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi, who is paying an official visit to Sofia. At the meeting, Petkov asked for guarantees from the EU that the Bulgarians in North Macedonia will be registered in the country’s constitution, once it is open for changes, as the procedures for accession in the EU require.
