Von der Leyen to Meet State Officials and Then Attend Parliament Session

President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen is expected to arrive in Skopje on Thursday before 11:00 a.m. Von der Leyen will hold meetings with President Stevo Pendarovski, Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski and Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi, after which she will attend and address the parliamentary session scheduled for 01:00 p.m. at which the MPs will discuss the French proposal for resolution of the bilateral issues between North Macedonia and Bulgaria, for lifting of the veto the latter has put against the EU integration of the former. Von der Leyen’s visit to Skopje was also announced via the official Twitter profile of the European Commission, in which it was written that she will meet in Skopje “the North Macedonian President Stevo Pendarovski”, which provoked negative reactions, and after 30 minutes, the tweet was deleted and a new one was published, stating that she will meet “President of North Macedonia Stevo Pendarovski”.
