Maricic: Screening Process from EU Accession Talks Officially Started

Deputy PM for European Affairs Bojan Maricic said in an interview for Alsat TV that the screening process from the EU accession talks for North Macedonia was officially started on Tuesday in Brussels. “According to our analyses, our country already managed to adapt 45% of its legislature to that of the EU, so we believe that in about six months we will catch up to Serbia and Montenegro, countries which initiated these processes 10 years ago. The entire process will start this September, by clusters and by chapters. First the EU will introduce us to the basic criteria and conditions of the screening, and then the actual screening will start, and it will take up to 16 months to complete, a period during which we will have to finalise and adopt documents crucial for this process,” Maricic explained.
